We weren’t sure what kind of turn out we would get for the part of HomeSkillet Fest deemed, “The Appetizer.” Ultimately, we decided it would be nice to give folks a taste of what HomeSkillet Fest is about before they committed to going. It was standing room only at Highliner Coffee Co., one of our sponsors.

Here is the lead off singer/songwriter to the festival, co-founder GEO. I’m sure there are a ton of pictures out there as I remember a lot of photos being taken. However I did not get any of Andy Miller or Sonny Smith, so if you have them email them to me at george “at” homeskilletrecords.com and I will get them up.

What was great about The Appetizer for me is that we could have ended after the local musicians finished up with Vern Culp. But then Luke Temple came out and blew us all away with his solo performance. He will be playing at the Community House on Thursday night. Tickets will be available at the door.

Sonny Smith played a set with his band and this was a treat as well. I hate to say I had some business to attend to (setting up the tent) so I had to leave half way during his set. Thankfully he will be playing again on Friday night at the Sea Mountain Golf Course. Tickets will also be available at this show.

Moves Like Music EP

Silver Jackson will be releasing his six song ‘Moves Like Music’ EP Wednesday at the Highliner Cafe. Silver Jackson will be kicking off the 2007 Homeskillet Fest with a short performance. Also watch for performances by artists Vern Culp, GEO, Chad Lehl and Sonny Smith from San Francisco. The show starts at 6pm so don’t be late and be sure to get a copy of Silver Jacksons limited press EP.

HomeskilletFest 2007 is near! We have been working overtime with sponsorship, planning etc. and things are starting to fall into place. Heres what you need to know, and what to look for.

The fest will be 4 days long, starting with a FREE show Wednesday July 11th.
this show will start @ 6pm at Highliner Coffee and will feature Sonny Smith (from San Francisco).
SilverJackson, Andy Miller, GEO, Jed Delong, Vern Culp and others will perform too!

Thursday July 12th @ sheet’ka kwaan naa kahidi (ONLY 200 Tickets Available)
Starting @ 6pm w/ open mic, Luke Temple from NYC will headline!!!, also watch for jed delong, hank moore, chad lehl, vern culp and kaninau from Hawaii

Friday July 13th @ Sea Mountain Golf Course
Show starts at 6pm
Jake Labotz will headline!!!
Arrive early to see kaninau (Hawaii), g.e.o.(Portland), the sugar shakers, the muskeg blues band, little stones father, glorious youth parade, silver jackson, and sonny smith(SF)!

Saturday July 14th @ Sea Mountain Golf Course
Show starts at 4pm
Common Market from Seattle will Headline!
Abyssinian Creole will also fly up from Seattle to perform.
This evening will also include performances by bellymeat, katieland (Anchorage), teri tibbett(Juneau), phonetic, micelph, problem child, konsept (Juneau), D-Script, and josh boots (Anchorage)!!

Raven Radio: Pre HomeSkillet Fest Show

Korrey Calorie, Silver Jackson, and g.e.o. all were interviewed for a short segment on Raven Radio. If you slow the whole thing down, reverse it, and watch The Wizard of Oz at the same time, you can get a proper decoding of the HomeSkillet Records gameplan.

G.E.O. Alive and Well

G.E.O. grabbed a few of Silver Jackson’s new band members to put a short set together. Drew Mochak rocked the drums and the tall drink of water playing bass is Thanny Bean. Even with the short amount of practice, good things came of it, and it was good to see a HomeSkillet Records artist finally grace the stage.

HomeSkillet Fest Tomorrow

Here we are on the eve of the first HomeSkillet Fest. Yes, the first. We hope this is a success and that one day we can do it again. We promise to post tons of picture, video, music, and blog entries throughout the show. So if you can’t be here (we know Alaska Airlines is expensive) then you can at least enjoy the show in some way. Onto the news.

Tomorrow morning G.E.O. and Terry from Juneau will both be on Raven Radio answering a few questions and jamming a couple of original tunes.

Tickets for HomeSkillet Fest can be purchased at the door, Old Harbor Books, or online.

The boys at HomeSkillet Records are hungry and this is going to be one great show and you should bring your friends, if they are stilll unconvinced after what you have said, tell them Greg will be there.
