Last.fm and Streaming Music
Many of you have probably heard of Last.fm, this is for those who haven’t. Last.fm is a piece of software that installs on your computer and tracks the music you play. It can work with a Mac or PC and works with iTunes and iPod music players. It may work with other programs – I’m not sure.
Why would somebody want to remember all the music they play? Because it is interactively virtually insane! Just kidding, it tracks your plays and puts them on your profile at http://www.last.fm. From their you can see what your friends are listening to and receive suggestions through their streaming music player. If you like a track, you can purchase it.
Consider it a more legal, more accurate (to your preference) version of Muxtape, which we wrote about last week. We’ll be doing an official HSR muxtape, just wait for it! For now you can deal with GEO’s muxtape. As for Last.fm, it’s a fairly new feature streaming music and not being sued into oblivion, and apparently it’s working.
