Abyssinian Creole

Abysinnian Creole arrived Saturday morning on the EARLY flight. The first thing Gabriel Teodros said to me was, “I haven’t went to bed.” All I could do was laugh. I was glad I was coming off the closest thing I’d had to a full night’s rest in awhile.

The other two guys, Khingz and WD4D were wide awake and wanted to check out the city. I gave Khingz a mini-tour while waiting for some logistics to kick in. WD4D was with Nick and Teodros was getting some much needed shut eye. I kept apologizing for the weather, but Khingz had no troubles, as he kept saying, “It’s just like this in Seattle.”

The guys did their sound check around 2pm and again, a different vibe than the night before. Hip-Hop brought a whole different type of energy than what had been played previously on the setup.

Around 9pm Ab Creole came on to a crowd hyped up by local MC, Phonetic. When the guest artists get up on stage, for me, it brings the festival to a whole other level. The crowd was loving every minute of it and I think those guys had a good time up there.

As usual with artists that are new to HomeSkillet Fest, I wished I would have had the time to familiarize myself with their music before the show, but I didn’t. However, it is kind of cool meeting them and then listening to their albums afterwards. Currently I am playing Gabriel Teodros’s solo project, “Lovework” and so far it gives off the same calm vibe as him, making it immediately accessible.

Be sure to check out Ab Creole’s MySpace page to see what they are up to and listen to their music.

They are on the same label as Common Market, Massline Media. We’ve been very happy with everything they’ve done for our festival as so far and hope to have them all up again next year.
