After the Party, there's the After Party

“The P,” was only a stones throw away from the Community House and the artists were all staying relatively close, so we decided to head down and see what all the fun was about. To our surprise, we walked right into a bell ringing contest, I heard the count was twenty times!!! For those not in the know, every time someone rings the bell, a round is bought for the entire bar. Twenty times!! I remember thinking how cool it was to have this happen on a night where we were showing our guests, “the town.” Thank goodness Sitka still has it’s seedy underbelly of fisherman, construction workers, web designers, and silversmiths. We love you.
So do Ashia and Brian, the former who helped out like a wild woman, thanks sis.

Later in the evening we headed to the HomeSkillet Headquarters for a poster signing session. Will Waghorn looks at B from PDX as he gets his photo taken. Look at him, he loves it.

Somehow a few guitars ended up falling into the hands of a few musicians and a few songs were made up on the spot. Luke began playing a song and singing, and then it went from there to my guests from Portland being told by me, “one more song.” Eventually I was left behind, but the events that followed were anything but normal.

After my guests, who were staying in the same house as me, left, I found myself stranded without a ride home. I was able to put this situation out of my head for a bit as we had some serious competition to tend to. Footraces on Lincoln Street at 3:30 AM should be a new HomeSkillet Fest tradition. Some might look at those boys who founded HomeSkillet Records and think, “Nick look likes the faster one.” Wrong! I smoked him twice in the fifty meter dash. Know about it. Mike Block, who claims he is flat-footed ended up walking away with the victory (I personally think he was a little hot off the blocks, but whatever).
