HomeSkillet Fest 2006: Wrap-Up

HomeSKillet Fest is slowly wrapping up here in Sitka, Alaska. It’s been two fantastic evenings of artists from all over Southeast Alaska as well as the added treat of Jake Labotz from LA, and Common Market from Seattle.

The entire community of Sitka showed up for the event. HomeSkillet Records would like to extend a huge thank you to all those that showed.

I am sitting here at 12:30 AM and the show after the show is going on. Silver Jackson is playing his song, “line”, the beer has stopped flowing and most the crowd is gone, yet something special still remains. This all started on beaches in Sitka, Alaska with a group of us who shared the love of music. HomeSkillet Records feels a bit more grown up from those late night fires on Sandy Beach. The geek and the artist are happy. Growth is good.

Winger is here and he has had a few to drink. 12:33 AM and the revolution to free the music is still underway. Caution tape has been spread. People might just find some of this a bit too much to handle. HomeSkillet Records is just getting their wings, we have much farther to fly.

Winger says,”When everybody feels good and has fun, you’re living life.” Audrey, and her beautiful baby Nova Galanin, graced us with their presence. Thank you so much to both of you for handling the booth.

Big thanks to Jerrod Galanin. Your integrity and your dedication to the spirit of HomeSkillet Records and the sharing of music has given us much fuel over the years. We also would like to thank Dan Littlefield, your perpetual can-do attitude has allowed us to do things, which at one point, we couldn’t do. Leif, your dedication to making all of us sound decent, proved even worthy enough for the big name artists we flew in, you should be proud.

Also big thanks to the man power that helped with the tent and stage, you know who you are.
