XTRA-Tuffs and HomeSkillet Festival 2007

Can you believe it’s Friday and May at the same time?  Neither can we.  In celebration of this monumental event, we wanted to put up a little bit of HomeSkillet Festival taster.  For those of you that are new to the concept of HomeSkillet Festival, we wanted to show you versus tell you how fun the event is and all the wonderful reasons why you should come to Sitka, Alaska to help us celebrate.

The following two artists are very special to HomeSkillet Records as they were the first to agree to come up to the festival; they came the first two years.  To see our current line-up of artists for HomeSkillet Festival CLICK HERE MAN!

The first video is of Ra Scion of Common Market putting out a little love for the Sitkan crowd.  As anyone who has spent time along the Northwest Coast knows, Fisherman, or anyone outside in the rain a lot where xtra-tuffs, or “tuffs.”  And just for the record (Mai Nakamura) there is no such thing as a “tuff” dance, though you could make one up.  Common Market will not be coming up this year as we wanted to bring in some more acts - although we wish we had budget to bring them up - they put on a really fun show.

The second video features bluesman Jake LaBotz playing on our very own Lee Asnin’s guitar.  As mentioned above, this video was of Jake’s second HomeSkillet Fest.  Unfortunately Jake will not be coming up this year either, he’s out doing movies or tatoo-parlor shows or something - the guy stays busy.  Enjoy!
